The Christmas Star Of Willowbrook
Chapter Eight – Christmas Morning
~ Christmas Morning Light ~
Verse 1
Christmas morning, soft and still,
Snow lies quiet on the hill,
Every heart and window sill
Wakes to gentle cheer.
Verse 2
No more rushing, no more fear,
Love has found its way in here,
All we hoped for through the year
Feels so close and clear.
Chorus
Oh Christmas morning light,
Shining calm and bright,
Stay with us a little while
And make this moment right.
Verse 3
Footsteps on the frosted floor,
Laughter at the kitchen door,
Peace has settled in once more
Like a whispered prayer.
Chorus
Oh Christmas morning light,
Shining calm and bright,
Stay with us a little while
And make this moment right.
Outro
Hold this feeling, warm and true
Christmas lives in me and you.
Ella woke to a quiet house.
For a moment, she lay very still beneath her blankets, listening. The wind was gone. No howling, no rattling windows. Just silence, the soft, peaceful kind that comes after something wonderful has happened.
Then she smelled it.
Cinnamon.
Toast.
Something sweet and warm.
She smiled and slipped out of bed.
Outside her window, Willowbrook shimmered beneath the morning sun. The snow lay smooth and untouched, sparkling like a thousand tiny stars. And there, high in the clear blue sky, the Christmas Star still shone, pale but steady, as if keeping watch over the town.
“It stayed,” Ella whispered.
Downstairs, laughter drifted from the kitchen. Nathan was already awake, hopping from foot to foot in his excitement. Mum and Dad stood close together by the stove, sharing quiet smiles and passing mugs of cocoa back and forth.
Grandpa Tom sat at the table, humming softly to himself.
“Well,” he said as Ella entered, “looks like Willowbrook remembered how to shine.”
Ella wrapped her arms around him. “Or maybe it just needed reminding.”
After breakfast, the family bundled up and stepped outside. Doors opened all along the street as neighbours emerged, waving and calling out cheerful greetings. Children raced through the snow, scarves flying. Someone began to sing, just for fun, and others joined in with laughter.
No one was worried anymore.
No one was rushing.
In the square, the great Christmas tree stood tall and bright, its lights glowing even in daylight. People gathered naturally, as if drawn by an invisible thread.
Ella felt Grandpa’s hand gently squeeze hers.
“Listen,” he said.
She did.
Not to one song.
But to many.
Humming.
Soft singing.
The sound of people together.
Ella looked up at the star once more and felt something warm settle inside her — not excitement, not wonder, but something deeper.
Belonging.
She understood now.
The Christmas Star didn’t shine because of perfect songs or big crowds. It shone because people opened their hearts. Because someone was brave enough to sing first. Because love, once shared, always finds its way back.
As snow crunched under boots and voices filled the square, the Christmas Star glimmered softly above Willowbrook.
And it would shine again next year.
Because Willowbrook remembered.
~ This Is Christmas ~
Verse 1
This is Christmas in our town,
Lanterns glowing all around,
Every smile, every sound
Feels like coming home.
Verse 2
This is Christmas in our song,
Voices joined where we belong,
All the love we carried long
Finally is shown.
Chorus
This is Christmas, here and now,
In every promise, every vow,
In the way we care somehow
And let our true hearts show.
Verse 3
Not the lights or shining things,
Not the gifts that winter brings,
But the joy that living sings
When we’re not alone.
Chorus
This is Christmas, here and now,
In every promise, every vow,
In the way we care somehow
And let our true hearts show.
Bridge
If the star should fade from view,
We’ll remember what to do,
Sing the love that leads us through
Every winter night.
Final Chorus
This is Christmas, bright and true,
Found in me and found in you,
In the songs we share and do
Our hearts are full of light.
Outro
So sing it on from year to year…
This is Christmas, always here.
